Contraceptive pills :
Birth control pills which are also called as contraceptive pills are female medication which are taken to avoid conception . These tablets are hormone rich which are commonly high in estrogen , progestin or progestogen which help to prevent ovulation , thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm passing through and thinning the uterus lining so that the fertilized egg cannot implant. When taken correctly, one pill at the same time each day, contraceptive pills are nearly highly effective. They are also helpful in contraception, to control menstrual periods or excessive bleeding and for conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome or acne. They do have potential side effects though such as vomiting, headaches, mood disturbances, weight changes and occasional spotting. Blood clots are very unlikely but can be a serious risk especially for smokers over the age of 35. Contraceptive pills can be obtained by prescription as per the instructions given by the doctor suitable for the patient.
