Breast Lump :
A breast lump refers to a mass or growth that develops in the breast. A breast lump can be movable, bumpy, firm or hard, smooth or spongy, round or irregularly shaped, and squishy or soft. Breast lumps are sometimes accompanied by bloody discharge from the nipple and other nipple changes. The causative factors for the formation of these breast lumps are fibro cystic changes, phyllodes tumor, breast cysts, fibroadenomas, breast infection, breast calcifications and breast cancer. Breast lumps are diagnosed by breast examination, taking the medical history, and conducting tests like a mammogram and ultrasound, along with imaging tests like breast MRI. The treatment plan to get rid of a breast lump involves prescribing medications like antibiotics, fluid drainage from a breast cyst and doing a biopsy to analyse the mass and cancer treatment further if the lump is proven to be breast cancer.
