Tricuspid valve disease :
Tricuspid valve disease is defined as improper functioning of the tricuspid valve, which is located between the two right chambers of the heart. Tricuspid valve diseases are classified into several types such as tricuspid regurgitation, tricuspid stenosis and tricuspid atresia. The presenting complaints of tricuspid valve disease are fatigue, arrhythmia, edema, enlarged liver, heart murmur, fluttering feeling in the chest, abnormally cold skin, and shortness of breath. The causative factors of tricuspid valve disease include underlying health conditions like congenital defects, such as Ebstein's anomaly, carcinoid syndrome, infections like rheumatic fever, enlarged right ventricle, systemic conditions like pulmonary hypertension and Marfan syndrome, lupus, trauma due to heart attack, myocardial biopsy or pacemaker, and radiation therapy to the chest or a tumor. The treatment plan to manage tricuspid valve disease involves taking medications to treat symptoms and prevent complications and surgeries to repair or replace the damaged tricuspid valve.
