Syncope :
Syncope is also called fainting or loss of consciousness. Syncope will be caused by the hindrance of blood flow to the brain. The syncope will be caused due to a sudden fall in blood pressure, a drop in heart rate, and a change in the amount of blood flowing to some areas of the body. There are many types of syncope, such as cardiac syncope, neurologic syncope, reflex syncope, syncope due to an unknown reason, postural or orthostatic syncope, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. The symptoms which will be observed in syncope will be blackouts, sudden falls, unsteadiness, tunnel vision (seeing spots), drowsiness, sweating, nausea, and headache. The syncope can be diagnosed based on the physical examination, blood tests, ECG, ambulatory monitor, tilt table test, exercise stress test, electrophysiology study, CT scan, autonomic reflex testing, echocardiogram, and neurological evaluation. The management advised for syncope will be through consuming food on time, elevating the legs, medications, wearing compression socks, and getting treated for underlying conditions.
