Skin tags, also referred to as acrochordons, are small non cancerous growths that are seen commonly as a cluster of skin tissue, extending out from a tiny stem. Skin tags may sometimes appear in same color as the skin and sometimes resemble a raised mole. The areas where these skin tags usually develop are body parts like groin or thighs, armpits, eyelids, neck, under the breasts and genitals. Skin tags develop mostly in pregnant women as they experience high levels of growth factors, people with similar family history and those people diagnosed with health problems like diabetes, obesity or certain specific skin problems. There is no treatment required for these skin tags as they do not present any atypical complains. However, if the appearance of skin tags bothers the person, these skin tags becomes irritated or bleeds easily, for which treatment is needed. The best treatment recommended by a dermatologist for skin tags is removing them using sharp instruments, extremely cold gas and heat.
