Seizures :
Seizures will be described as the abnormal electrical activity of the brain. The two main types of seizures will be focal seizures and generalised seizures. Seizures will be caused due to disturbance of the electrical activity in the brain. The symptoms which will be seen in seizures will be uncontrollable movements such as muscle spasms, loss of consciousness, convulsions, staring, abnormal eye movements, clenching of teeth, loss of bowel control, confusion, sudden emotional feelings of joy, anxiety, and fear, loss of bladder control, drooling of saliva, and grunting. There are four stages which are observed in seizures: the prodrome phase, ictal phase, aura phase, and postictal phase. The diagnosis of seizures will depend on the physical examination, blood tests, neurological examination, genetic tests, electroencephalogram (EEG), CT scan, MRI scan, PET scan, spinal tap or lumbar puncture, and genetic testing. The treatment advised for seizures will be treated with medications, brain stimulation, managing underlying causes, and surgical management.
