Pimples are type of skin infection observed on the surface of the skin as small growths. Pimples are categorized into various types such as papules, that are small bumps, pustules, blackheads, whiteheads, nodules and cysts, which are filled with a yellow or white, thick fluid containing dead white blood cells and pus. Abnormal formation of keratin, increased sebum production and increased presence of bacteria on the skin causes clogging of the sebaceous glands which leads to the formation of pimples. The treatment methods to get rid of pimples involves taking medications like benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, azelaic acid and salicylic acid and cosmetic treatments like chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, and microdermabrasion. Pimples can also be treated at home by taking green tea, tea tree oil, sugar or salf scrubs, applying an ice pack covered in a light towel and warm compress over the pimples for ten minutes.
