Phimosis :
Phimosis is a condition of the penis seen in uncircumcised adults and children. In the case of phimosis, there will be a problem in pulling back the foreskin of the penis. The two types of phimosis will be pathologic phimosis and physiologic phimosis. The phimosis can be caused by infection, such as sexually transmitted infections, and other causes will be penile adhesions, skin conditions like psoriasis, lichen planus, eczema, and injuries. The diagnosis of phimosis will be based on the urinalysis, physical examination, and urethral discharge culture. The treatment advised for phimosis will be through medications like antibiotics, steroids, and surgical treatment. Doctors will advise having a circumcision in case of adults, if phimosis is severe, lichen sclerosus causing phimosis, or when corticosteroids are used. The complications that are seen due to phimosis will be infection, pain, bleeding, and the foreskin being too short or too long. In case of long-standing phimosis, it can lead to an increased risk of penile cancer.
