Perthes disease :
Perthes disease will be called Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. Perthes disease will be one of the rarest conditions that will affect the hip joint of children between the ages of 2 and 12 years. Perthes disease will be referred to as the cessation of blood supply to the hip joint, leading to the death of the tissue, and the blood will flow back to the tissue to repair the bone, but the size and shape of the hip joint will change. The symptoms that are noticed in the case of Perthes disease will be limping while walking, pain in the hip region, referred pain, and cramps in the legs. The symptoms which will be seen in later stages will be Trendelenburg gait, described as the abnormal pattern of walking, limited movement, atrophy of muscles, and discrepancy of leg length. The diagnosis of Perthes disease will be based on the physical examination, X-rays, and MRI scan. The treatment advised for the Perthes disease will be through restriction of activity and bearing heavy weight, traction, pain relievers, use of crutches to walk, physiotherapy, using casts or bracing to fix the bone in the socket, and surgery for the correction of the shape and to fit the bone in the socket.
