Penile Cancer :
Penile cancer is a form of cancer that affects the skin and tissues of the penis. Types of penile cancer include basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, and sarcoma. Symptoms include a painless lump that may bleed, swelling and irritation of the penis, change in the color of the skin, skin thickening, flat growths, foul-smelling fluid, and rash. Risk factors of penile cancer are phimosis, HPV, HIV, tobacco use, PUVA treatment, lichen sclerosis, and poor hygiene. Diagnosis is made by physical exam, biopsy, and imaging like CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, PET scan, and chest x-ray. Treatment plans are medicated creams, circumcision, laser ablation, cryotherapy, Mohs surgery, excision, and radiation therapy. If the cancer is in an advanced stage, penectomy and lymphadenectomy are advised.
