Nose bleed :
Nosebleed is discharge of blood from the nasal passages due to several underlying causes. Some of the common causes include traumatic injury or fractures, nasal polyps, cold or allergies, low humidity, high blood pressure, bleeding disorder or tumorous conditions and certain medications. Nosebleeds can occur either in one nostril or in both and the blood may drip into the back of the throat. It can also be associated with swollen nasal passages and sinusitis, facial pain or pressure and difficulty in breathing. Immediate relief can be obtained by elevating the head and applying pressure for a few minutes. Avoiding nasal blowing and strenuous exercises can prevent worsening of the nosebleeds. Use of nasal sprays, humidifiers and management of underlying medical conditions are the preferred choices of treatment for nosebleeds.
