Nipple discharge :
Nipple discharge is leakage from the nipples either from one or both. It is a condition not too serious that occurs a lot in females. The color and thickness of the leakage could vary from patient to patient. It could be colourless, milky and yellow, turn greenish sometimes, and little bit even bloody. Possible causes would be changes in the hormonal balance, infection and papilloma which is a harmless tumor of the milk ducts. For women, discharge can be related to life stages like pregnancy, breastfeeding, or menopause. Medications, such as the birth control pills or antihypertensive drugs, cause nipple discharge. Most of these are harmless but any such nipple discharge which is bloody in colour or unilateral then requires further assessment. Treatment would be based on the cause. This can require change of medications, treating an infection, or surgery that is sometimes necessary in which tissues may be removed that cause the issue.
