Myocarditis :
Most common viral causes are flu virus and COVID-19 as well as other respiratory viruses. The diagnosis usually would be done through blood tests, electrocardiograms, or sometimes even imaging studies like an echocardiogram or MRI. A rare situation does require a biopsy of the heart tissue. The treatment is symptomatic and includes treatment of the disease, being caused such as endocarditis with anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the inflammation as well as with medications to strengthen the heart and control the symptoms of the disease. Generally most victims of the disease do not have long term implication, and they are usually discharged from the hospital when their symptoms resolve. However, some patients may continue with lifelong complications that require life time monitoring and management.
