Multiple Sclerosis :
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease where the protective covering around the nerves, known as myelin, gets damaged in the central nervous system. It interrupts the signals that are sent to carry out functions like sensation, movement, and vision. It mainly affects women between 20 to 40 years of age. Early signs include double vision, optic neuritis, vision loss, muscle weakness, and numbness. Symptoms include fatigue, clumsiness, dizziness, loss of balance, difficulty with bladder regulation, difficulty in thinking, learning, concentration, memory and judgment, mood changes, muscle stiffness, and spasms. Factors that influence multiple sclerosis are smoking, pesticides, low levels of vitamin D, Epstein-Barr virus, genetic predisposition, and obesity.
