Mole Removal :
Mole removal is a minor or non surgical procedure of removal of moles on the skin surface using various methods. A certified dermatologist evaluates the moles by verifying clinical symptomatology and conducting visual exams. Benign or non-cancerous moles can be removed for cosmetic reasons, while precancerous and cancerous moles are removed due to their characteristic features and potential for diagnosis of cancer. Some of the methods used for mole removal by dermatologists are surgical excision, shave excision, laser removal, and cryotherapy. Cryotherapy is an outpatient procedure which can be performed during a chair-side visit. Post removal care instructions such as maintenance of the area, application of antibiotic cream and avoidance of direct sun exposure are essential. Some of the post removal complications include scarring of the underlying tissue, secondary infections and nerve damage.
