Lap Colon Surgeries :
Laparoscopic colon surgery is performed by making small incisions in the abdomen to place the laparoscope, and then a long and thin instrument with a camera and light on one end is inserted. A gas is pumped through the incision to inflate the abdomen for better visibility. The benefits of laparoscopic surgery are less blood loss, short stays at the hospital, faster recovery times, fewer scars, decreased pain, and good pain management. It is done in conditions like colon cancer, precancerous conditions, large bowel obstruction, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease volvulus when the intestine folds into itself, diverticulitis, and uncontrolled bleeding. Before surgery, physical and health history is done, which includes blood tests, X-ray, electrocardiogram, urinalysis, and colonoscopy. Risks may include infection, blood clots, damage to an organ or blood vessel, excessive bleeding from incisions, and allergic reactions to anesthesia and medications.
