Hysteroscopy :
Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic procedure done to examine the uterus with a thin, light tube called a hysteroscope. Hysteroscopy is used to diagnose any abdominal bleeding in the uterus, fibroids, polyps, and any abnormalities in the uterus. It is also used to take a tissue sample for biopsy. Hysteroscopy is done by inserting the device through the vagina to examine the uterus. It is also used in treating fibroids and polyps by removing them. There are two different types of hysteroscopies such as diagnostic hysteroscopy and operative hysteroscopy. The procedure of hysteroscopy is that a hysteroscope is placed into the cervix through the vagina and passes into the uterus, then gas or fluid is placed in the uterus to expand and have a clear view. Then, the pictures of the uterus are captured for further diagnosis. The risks associated with hysteroscopy are bleeding, pain, infection, and perforation of the uterus or organs nearby which is very uncommon.
