Heart Rhythm Disorder :
Heart rhythm disorder in medical terminology is called arrhythmia. It can be formed due to several reasons. Some of the common reasons for heart rhythm disorder include electrolyte imbalances, coronary artery diseases, valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, and uncontrolled blood pressure. People with unhealthy lifestyles like excessive smoking, obesity, abuse of alcohol, uncontrolled blood sugars, and usage of certain medications like anti-asthmatics can also lead to this disease. Diagnosis is made by 24 hour holter monitoring, ECG, 2d echo cardiogram, EP study, tilt table study, MRI of heart, a careful physical examination, and some basic blood investigations. Treatment depends upon the underlying cause, patients might be advised antiarrhythmic medications and anticoagulants, along with lifestyle modifications like quitting of smoking and alcohol. Certain procedures like cardioversion, Electrophysiological study followed by ablation, catheter ablation, and pulmonary vein isolation might also be advised.
