Hair fall :
Hair fall, also called as alopecia, is commonly seen these days and may occur temporarily or permanently. Hair fall is categorized into several types such as androgenic alopecia, anagen effluvium, telogen effluvium and alopecia areata. The causative factors of hair fall include hairstyles that pull the hair tightly like braids, tight ponytails, hereditary hair loss due to genetics, fungal infections on the scalp, hormonal changes like pregnancy, childbirth or menopause, hair care like perms and bleach, thyroid disease, medical treatments like chemotherapy, hair extensions, nutritional deficiencies and stressful events. Hair fall occurs as male pattern baldness when there is a receding hairline and as female pattern baldness when there in thinning of hair all over the head, loss of small patches of hair on the scalp and also on the body. The treatment plan to manage hair fall includes using medications, low level laser therapy, lifestyle changes and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy.
