Fracture Treatment :
Ice and elevation may also be used in reducing swelling and pain. Severely displaced, comminuted, or intra-articular fractures may necessitate surgery. In such cases surgery can be rods and plates or screws or even external fixation. This is usually followed by rehabilitation as part of the process of physical therapy in the event of immobilization or surgery. Restitution of strength, flexibility, and ranges of motion are relevant and usually begin a few weeks to months after immobilization or surgery and often depend on character and location of the fracture. It may also often require followup with a doctor for proper healing and possible monitoring for possible complications such as nonunion or malunion of the bone. The treatment alone would determine the extent to which recovery and function would be.
