Endometrial Polyp :
Endometrial polyp is a growth that projects from the lining of the uterine endometrium into the uterine cavity. They may be single or multiple and appear as pink swellings of 1-2cm in diameter with a pedicle. Although an endometrial polyp is a benign(non cancerous) it can get a malignant change .It can occurs due to various factors like hormonal changes of estrogen and progesterone , genetic factors, inflammation or infection, abnormal cell growth etc.,Signs and symptoms of endometrial polyp includes abnormal vaginal bleeding ie., heavy, prolonged, or postmenopausal bleeding,spotting or discharge, pelvic pain, infertility or difficulty getting pregnant,abnormal Pap test result. Diagnosis is made by pelvic examination, ultrasound, hysteroscopy, biopsy, endometrial sampling. Ususally small and asymptomatic polyps are observed with regular monitoring but sugical removal, hormonal therapy,endometrial ablation or resection etc,. is done in other cases.
