ECG / Electrocardiogram refers to an imaging test that helps in diagnosing problems with the heart. An electrocardiogram is recommended to evaluate heart rhythm issues and for treatment monitoring, and it works by recording the heart's electrical activity. ECG is indicated to evaluate heart conditions such as arrhythmia or abnormal electrical conduction, congenital heart disease, issues with the heart valves, heart attack, poor blood flow to the heart muscle because of coronary artery disease, enlarged heart and heart failure or damage. The presenting complains for which a person is advised to get an ECG done include symptoms such as syncope, shortness of breath, chest pain, tiredness, dizziness, a flutter or skip in the heartbeat, fast heartbeat, cyanosis and difficulty with blood supply during physical activity (chronotropic incompetence).
