Cystic Fibrosis :
Cystic fibrosis is an incurable genetic disorder that can affect the respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems. The disorder causes dehydration of the cells that generate the natural secretions in these systems. In a healthy body, these secretions are thin and slippery. However, in a body affected by cystic fibrosis, these secretions become thick and sticky. The symptoms of the condition vary depending on the severity of the condition. One may have severe symptoms one day and milder symptoms the next. The symptoms also depend on the organs affected by this condition. Cystic fibrosis most commonly affects the lungs. It can cause a cough that produces thick mucus and does not diminish. Additionally, it can cause wheezing and repeated infections in the sinuses or the lungs. When the condition affects the digestive system, it results in ongoing constipation. It can also make the stools greasy and foul-smelling.
