COPD :
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is a chronic lung disease caused by long term exposure to lung irritants, such as cigarette smoke and other kinds of air pollution. Over time the lungs become scarred impairing airflow and lung function, although most progression occurs after diagnosis. Diagnosis usually occurs with lung function tests that are supplemented with imaging studies, including chest X-rays. Treatment includes relieving symptoms and prevention of complications, smoking cessation, inhalers, pulmonary rehabilitation and in advanced cases oxygen therapy or surgery is the treatment. Early diagnosis and lifestyles themselves help patients significantly within the enhancement of the quality of life.
