Chemical Peels :
Chemical peels are aesthetic treatments that are carried on with the intent of restoring the look of skin and it is mostly applied to the face, neck, and hands. In this process, the dermatologist applies a chemical solution to the skin, which is then followed by a peeling off, of the top layers to reveal fresher smoother skin underneath. Chemical peels often treat imperfections of the skin such as acne scars, dark spots, uneven tone, fine lines, and wrinkles. There are mainly three types of chemical peels which are light, medium, and deep, which are significantly different from each other in the strength of the solution used and the extent to which it affects the skin. While peeling, the solution could feel tingly or burning and unpleasant, but this is just temporary. Recovery varies with the type of peel as one's light peels carry little to no danger of post-procedure recovery, while deep peels will keep a person in recovery for several weeks. Post the procedure, care like moisturizing the skin, preventing exposure to the sun, and avoiding using tough products on the skin is advised by the doctor. Chemical peeling is always performed by a qualified medical professional (dermatologists) since there are risks associated with it like scarring, change in color of the skin, or infections.
