Brain Stroke :
A brain stroke is called the blockage of blood flow or bleeding in the brain. There are two types of brain strokes: hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke. The ischemic stroke can be caused by many reasons, such as clotting disorders, microvascular ischemic disease, atherosclerosis, atrial fibrillation, and heart defects. The hemorrhagic stroke will be caused by brain tumours, brain aneurysms, moyamoya disease, and high blood pressure. The symptoms that can be observed in a brain stroke will be blurred vision, coma, aphasia, confusion, dizziness, headaches, memory loss, mood swings, vertigo, loss of coordination, seizures, stiffness of the neck, loss of senses, slurred speech, and paralysis. The diagnosis of brain stroke will be based on the neurological examination, blood tests, CT scan, electroencephalogram, electrocardiogram, and MRI scan. The treatment advised for brain stroke will be through medications, speech therapy, stroke rehabilitation involving occupational therapy, cognitive rehab, and physiotherapy.
