Brain Aneurysm :
Brain Aneurysm refers to a bulge in the weak area of a blood vessel or around the brain, also known as a cerebral aneurysm. The first sign of a brain aneurysm is a severe headache called a thunderclap headache that occurs due to the rupture of a brain aneurysm. Brain aneurysm causes serious conditions like permanent brain damage, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage and other complications like vasospasm, seizures, hydrocephalus, coma and death too. The presenting complaints of a ruptured brain aneurysm are thunderclap headache, nausea and vomiting, photophobia, weakness, seizures, stiff neck, blurred vision or double vision, drooping eyelid and dilated pupil, pain above and behind the eye, confusion, numbness and loss of consciousness. Brain aneurysms that do not rupture and enlarge in size induce symptoms like headache, vision changes, pain above or behind the eye, enlarged pupil, tingling or numbness sensation on the head or face and seizures. Medical conditions like high blood pressure, fibromuscular dysplasia, Marfan syndrome and habits like smoking and alcohol consumption cause brain aneurysms.
