Bow Legs :
Bow legs is also called as genu varum. Bow legs is a condition in which the legs are curved outwards at the knee position leading to wide space between the both legs. Bow legs are commonly seen in toddlers and infants. Generally this bow legs is a physiologic process and legs become normal by 2 years of age, if they are not straightened, the reasons could be rickets, blount's disease, dwarfism, flouride poisoning, lead poisoning, and bone fractures. Bow legs can be diagnosed through physical examination, and X-rays to visualize the bones. Some blood tests are advised to detect the underlying disease. There is no need of treatment below the age of 2 years. If the bow legs persists even after the age of 2 years, treatment options include splints, specialized shoes, casts, braces, treatment to the underlying disease, and surgical treatment to correct the position of bones.
