Endocrinologist :
An endocrinologist refers to a doctor who deals with the study of hormones, identifies and controls hormonal imbalances. To pursue a career as an endocrinologist, it is mandatory to obtain an MBBS degree, and then study post graduation in General Medicine, followed by super specializing in Endocrinology. An endocrinologist deals with a wide range of diseases including osteoporosis, hypercalcemia, diabetes, endocrine cancers and tumors like thyroid cancer and neuroendocrine tumors, metabolic syndrome, obesity, thyroid diseases like hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, adrenal gland conditions like Cushing syndrome, pituitary gland conditions like hypopituitarism, and sexual development and reproduction conditions like hypogonadism and PCOS. The presenting complaints, for which one should consult an endocrinologist, include weight loss or weight gain, fatigue, weakness, menstrual irregularities, blurred vision, mood swings and anxiety, changes in hair growth, skin changes such as dry skin, acne, changes in heart rate, excessive thirst, and bone and joint pain.
