Characteristics of vaginal discharge include watery and sticky to thick pasty in texture and clear milky white discharge. The color of vaginal discharge indicates a problem. If the color is yellow or green, it may suggest a sexually transmitted infection. If the color is brown or red, it may suggest irregular menstruation. If the color is clear or white, it may suggest yeast infection. It may be caused due to yeast infection, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, an object near the vagina, irritation or rash from the object, and condition like atrophic vaginitis, pregnancy, and during ovulation.
