Nose Block :

Nose block or nasal congestion occurs when there is swelling of the nasal tissues and blood vessels caused by excess fluid, making one not able to breathe through his nose. The common causative agents behind the occurrence include colds and allergies, sinus infections, dust, and smoke among many more. Structural problems like nasal polyps and also contribute to chronic nasal congestion. Its symptoms include dyspnoea, difficulty in breathing through the nostrils, pressure sensation within the face with headache, and also some condition when loss of sense of smell is present. In some cases, it also brings congested nose together with runny nose or sneezing.

Depending on the cause treatment is given. To alleviate the condition temporarily, decongestant sprays in the nose or steam inhalation with saline sprays can help dilate the nasal passages. For allergy related problems one could take antihistamines and stay away from the allergen. If structural defects or polyps cause the blockage, surgery is recommended. Proper hydration along with rest also assists in recovery from these blockages in the nasal passages by an infection.
