Deviated Nasal Septum :
Deviated Nasal Septum is a displacement of nasal septum to one side of the thin wall of the nose. It may lead to a difference in size of the nostrils on both sides, leading to breathing complications because of narrow passage of space on one side. The condition might be present at birth too. It can result from injury to the nose. In some patients, deviation will worsen with time. Common symptoms of a deviated septum include nasal congestion, breathing difficulty through one or both the nostrils, frequent sinuses infection, snoring, and nose bleeding. All patients with deviated septum might not experience symptoms, they may have only a slight deviation not affecting their lives. In mild cases, treatments such as decongestants, antihistamines, or nasal sprays may help relieve symptoms. However, if it is significantly affecting breathing or causing sinus infections to recur, then the patient may be recommended to undergo septoplasty which is a surgical operation conducted to improve the inner parts of the nasal passage.
