Cystoscopy :
Cystoscopy is a procedure entails passing a thin flexible tube with a camera at the end called a cystoscope through the urethra into the bladder. This is a type of medical procedure that demonstrates the inner lining of the bladder and urethra for both diagnostic and treatment procedures most commonly for urinary tract conditions like bladder stones, tumors, infections, or blockages. It is done under local, regional, or general anesthesia depending on what the case presents. It is a procedure usually performed to test for the cause of blood in the urine, recurrent infections in the urinary tract, and the issues while urinating. The doctor may take tissue samples, also known as biopsies, or remove small bladder stones in the process.
Post procedure side effects included mild irritation and soreness, which may be associated with a burning sensation while urinating, besides hematuria. However, this effect is usually self-limiting and lasts no more than for one or two days. The bladder may flush itself with proper hydration. The serious complications are relatively rare, infection, for example, damage to the bladder.
