Stye :
A stye is a condition in which there is the formation of a reddish bump over the inner edge of the eyelid. A stye will also be known as a hordeolum. There are two types of styes: internal styes and external styes. Styes will occur in any individual and are more commonly seen in adults. The stye will occur due to bacterial infection that is leading to the production of oil from the glands in the eyelids. The symptoms that will be observed in a stye will be eye discharge, swelling of the eyelid, formation of crust along the eyelid, soreness, itching, tearing of the eye, a feeling of an object in the eye, and sensitivity to light. When the stye is severe and affecting the vision, you need to consult an ophthalmologist. They will diagnose the stye through regular eye examination. Styes will subside on their own within 1-2 weeks, and you will be relieved from the stye. They can also be managed at home by using warm compresses, by not popping the stye, frequent cleaning of discharge from eyelids, not wearing any makeup, and contact lenses.
