Stomach ulcer :

Stomach ulcer is a break out in the protective mucous membrane of inner most lining of the stomach. Symptoms include heartburn, sensation of burning in stomach, bloating of abdomen, loss of appetite, water brash, at times blood in vomiting and stools.

Common causes are stress, prolonged usage of NSAID's, consumption of excessive spices, caffeine, alcohol. Along with all these a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori is considered to play a major role in formation of stomach ulcer. Treatment include antibiotics, antacids, H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors. Necessary lifestyle management should be taken care of along with the medication.
