Spirometry :
Spirometry is a lung function test that is performed to assess the functioning of your lungs by measuring how much air goes into and out of your lungs while breathing. It helps to determine how well you breathe and how strong your lungs are. Spirometry is also used to diagnose pulmonary diseases like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary fibrosis. Spirometry also helps to detect the narrowing of air passages and identify the early changes in your lung function and thus helping in curating a treatment plan. It can also decide how likely it is that the inhaled medications are helping to subside the symptoms you are initially suffering from. Spirometry is advised when a person is presenting complaints such as chest pain or tightness, chronic cough which mucus, difficulty in taking a deep breath, shortness of breath, and wheezing or whistling sound while breathing.
