Radio Surgery :
Radiosurgery is a therapeutic treatment that is used to treat cancerous conditions. It is not an open surgery but will be a beam of radiation which will be passed through the body in order to destroy the cancer cells. During the procedure of radiosurgery, advanced imaging techniques are used to focus the beam of radiation dose onto the target cancer cells, thus minimizing the damage to the surrounding healthy cells. Gamma rays or X-rays are used to shrink or destroy the tumor cells and will also help prevent them from multiplying further. There are various types of radiosurgery, which include stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), gamma knife radiosurgery, intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT), and stereotactic body radiostherapy (SBRT). Radiosurgery will be performed to treat conditions like brain tumors, lung tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, movement disorders, spinal cord tumors, obsessive-compulsive disorder, vascular conditions, including arteriovenous malformations, and cavernomas. Radiosurgery will be called a minimally invasive procedure, and its advantages will involve targeting the cells very precisely, an outpatient procedure, the patient can be discharged on the same day, and it is an effective procedure.
