Premenstrual syndrome :

Premenstrual syndrome is referred to the changes in the mood, physical & emotional health and behaviour that occurs 2 weeks before the start of your menstrual cycle or between your ovulation or start of menstrual cycle. This is a very common condition experienced almost by 50 % of the women during their reproductive years. Signs and symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome has an affect on both physical and emotional health including anxiety, restlessness, changes in appetite, food cravings, altered sleep patterns, decreased sex drive, sad low mood, emotional out burst, irritability, abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, constipation, diarrhea, acne, cramping and several others.

These emotional and physical symptoms or changes can be severe enough to affect everyday activities. Although there is no clear cause of this condition, scientific researches presume that these changes may be due to Cyclic changes in hormones, Chemical changes in the brain, existing mental health conditions and other life style factors. Treatment mainly involves coping strategies and medical management to ease the symptoms.
