Laryngitis :

Laryngitis is a inflammatory condition of voice box called larynx. It can be acute or chronic, depending on the duration of symptoms. This inflammation results in symptoms such as sore throat, hoarseness of voice, dryness of mouth, dryness of throat, difficulty in swallowing, excessive salivation, fever, cough, swelling of surrounding lymph nodes. Causes of laryngitis are viral, bacterial and fungal infections, chronic smoking, alcohol consumption, GERD, chronic sinusits, etc. Treatment include anti-biotic therapy and immuno suppressants to reduce the inflammation.
