Hypospadias :
Hypospadias is a condition where the foreskin of the penis and urethra remain underdeveloped in the penis of babies. There will be various types of hypospadias, including coronal, glanular, penoscrotal, scrotal or perineal, and midshaft. The symptoms which will be seen in hypospadias will be an underdeveloped foreskin, problems with urination, undescended testicles, and a congenitally curved penis. The hypospadias will be diagnosed by a paediatrician during physical examination. The treatment advised for hypospadias will be done through surgical treatment known as hypospadias repair, in which the penis is straightened, and the skin on the penis is reconstructed, and then the circumcision is performed. There will be some side effects resulting from the repair of hypospadias, including infection, anaesthesia risks, bleeding, abnormal healing leaving scars, urethral stricture, urethrocutaneous fistula, urethral diverticulum, and recurrent curvature. The prevention of hypospadias will be possible during pregnancy by cessation of smoking and alcohol, taking enough folic acid, maintaining a healthy body weight, and having regular health checkups.
