Eye pain :
It occurs inside and around an eye. Many causes have been associated with eye pain. Some of the common causes of eye pain are dry eyes, eye strain, infections, conjunctivitis, keratitis, corneal abrasions, glaucoma, and sinusitis. Other causes also include foreign bodies inside the eye, migraines, and diseases like hypertension.
An Ophthalmologist consultation should be considered when there is increase in eye pain, redness, and swelling, photophobia or light sensitivity, cloudy vision, and tearing. Such pain can be stabbing or throbbing and the majority of people report that it is unilateral and sometimes bilateral.Most commonly, instrumental procedures involve slit lamp and tests of visual acuity. Treatment is related to the cause itself. Sometimes the eye strain can be treated by resting and proper illumination. Though Infections might require antibiotic drops. Extreme conditions demand to be treated immediately such as glaucoma, whereas others can be prevented through frequent visits for checkups, ensuring proper hydration, and less time viewing the eye to prevent pain in the eye as well as its effects.
