Frequently asked questions

As per bronchoscopy doctors, recovery time after a bronchoscopy procedure varies between individuals, but in general, it can take anywhere between 1-4 days.

A bronchoscopy biopsy is a diagnostic procedure in which samples of tissue are taken either from the airways or the lungs to further study them in a laboratory and to assess the underlying problem that is responsible for the symptoms present.

Bronchoscopy and EBUS refer to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are done to visualize and reach the inside of the airways and the lungs when there is a respiratory problem present. EBUS refers to Endo Bronchial Ultra Sound, in which an ultrasound probe is attached to the bronchoscope.

During a bronchoscopy procedure, a local anesthetic is given in the nose and throat, and a tube with a camera and light sources is passed either through the nose or mouth into the airways and then into the lungs to visualize the inside of the respiratory tract and lungs.

The bronchoscopy procedure helps the doctor to visualize the inside of the airways and the lungs, and get a clear picture of the problem inside, which is otherwise not possible with other imaging tests.

The eligibility for bronchoscopy includes chronic unexplained cough, pneumonia, hemoptysis, staging of lung cancer, post-lung transplant surveillance, and many more.
