Bladder infection is defined as a type of urinary tract infection. This is characterized by bacteria entering the urinary tract by passing through the urethra and then multiplying in the urinary bladder. The presenting complaints of people with bladder infection are pain or burning sensation while urinating, urgent need to urinate or frequency in urination, blood in urine, cloudy urine, pain in the abdomen, and fever of low-grade type. It is commonly caused by bacteria such as E.coli and occurs due to sexual activity. There is an increased risk of bladder infection in women who wipe front back to front after urinating and those who use certain types of birth control like diaphragms and spermicides. Bladder infections can be prevented by drinking plenty of fluids, urinating regularly, wiping from front to back after urinating which can prevent bacteria to enter the urethra from anus and also urinating immediately after sexual activity.
