Astigmatism :
Astigmatism is a refractive error, which means that either the cornea or lens is more curved than it should be, thus making the vision blurry. Astigmatism is divided into two types such as corneal and lens astigmatism. If astigmatism is caused by the irregular shape of the cornea, it is known as corneal astigmatism, and if there is an irregularity in the lens, it is called lenticular astigmatism. The common symptoms of astigmatism are blurred vision and difficulty in seeing details of an object, the other symptoms of astigmatism are seeing a glare or halos around lights, squinting to see clearly, headaches, fatigue, and eye strain. This is a hereditary condition that develops due to issues like eye injuries, keratoconus and complications after eye surgery. Corrective lenses are required to correct astigmatism. Doctors advise eyeglasses or contact lenses or vision correcting surgery like LASIK eye surgery, photorefractive keratectomy or PRK eye surgery.
