Thrombophlebitis :
Thrombophlebitis is an inflammation of veins that happens when a blood clot blocks in one or two veins. It commonly occurs in legs due to the presence of larger and deeper veins. This condition is caused by several factors. Some are genetic conditions, varicose veins, long-term bed rest, and obesity. A person may experience swelling in the legs or affected area, warm and tender to touch where swelling is present, and pain at the site. It can be detected through ultrasound Doppler, Gene testing, and physical examination. This can be treated with medications like painkillers, NSAIDS, and blood thinners, and surgery involves vein stripping and bypassing of the vein. However, thrombophlebitis can be prevented by adopting a regular habit of walking, drinking plenty of water, moving frequently, and staying healthy, some health tracking devices can be used to track the steps. Lastly, thrombophlebitis is a manageable condition that is detected if ignored it can lead to serious health concerns and cause complications like DVT, and pulmonary embolism can be life-threatening.
