Hypertension In Pregnancy :
Hypertension in pregnancy is the increased blood pressure in the pregnant women which can be caused due to pregnancy related changes, placental issues, or pre-existing conditions of the patient. The blood pressure exceeds 140/80 mm Hg in the patient with this condition. People with ages under 20 years, greater than 40 years, a history of gestational hypertension, a family history of gestational hypertension, diabetes, immune system disorder, or kidney disease have a high risk of hypertension in pregnancy. They exhibit symptoms like swelling, headaches, sudden weight gain, vision changes, nausea, decreased urine output, and abdominal pain. If hypertension in pregnancy is left untreated, it may lead to complications like seizures, stroke, temporary kidney failure, and liver problems and also can lead to reduced birth weight and premature birth of the baby. It can diagnosed by the Gynecologist through physical examination, blood tests, and urine tests. Gynecologist intervention and regular follow up are needed for patients to reduce birth defects, ensure healthy delivery, and prevent fatal complications for pregnant women and babies.
