Astigmatism :
Astigmatism is a common eye problem that causes blurred vision due to the irregular shape of the cornea or lens in the eye. Generally, astigmatism is present at birth, along with shortsightedness or longsightedness. It is inherited from parents to children. Astigmatism usually occurs when the cornea is curved more narrower in one direction. Sometimes, it occurs after an eye injury, surgery, or due to any disease. Symptoms of astigmatism are blurred vision, straining of eyes, squinting, headache, night vision will be difficult, and eye fatigue. Astigmatism is diagnosed by an eye doctor through an eye examination. The doctor will also perform a visual acuity test, refraction test, and keratometry that measures the cornea's curve. An eye doctor or ophthalmologist recommends spectacles or contact lenses to improve vision and also advises some eye exercises and eye patching. These are helpful for the improvement. A doctor can also advise surgery to correct the shape of the cornea.
