Thyroid Cancer :
Thyroid cancer can be observed in thyroid gland due to abnormal growth of cells in the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is mainly responsible for regulation of our body temperature , blood pressure etc. Depending upon the type of the cells in the thyroid gland the cancer is also named such as follicular, papillary, medullary and aplastic.Common causes include family history, exposure to certain chemicals and genetic disorders. Some common symptoms of thyroid cancer are loss of appetite, hoarseness of voice, difficulty in speaking and neck pain. . Mostly thyroid cancer is curable if detected on right time and treated. Diagnosis can be made by a physical examination, complete history, biopsy, ultrasound and MRI .Treatment includes radiation therapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy. In some cases even complete removal of thyroid is also recommended which is also known as thyroidectomy. There is a chance of reoccurence of thyroid cancer even after complete treatment, which needs monitoring on a regular basis.
