Neuroma :
A neuroma is a growth of nerve tissues that is usually found in the feet between the third and fourth toes. It is also known as a nerve tumour or a pinched nerve. The growth causes symptoms like pain, numbness, burning or tingling in the area of the growth. A neuroma can develop by many reasons, including repeated stress on the nerve, wearing improper footwear and damage to the nerve due to trauma. It may also develop due to deformities in the leg, such as flat feet or high arches. The condition is diagnosed with physical exams and X-ray scans. Treatment for a neuroma depends on the severity of the condition. If the neuroma is early in its development, then wearing better shoes can relieve the symptoms and allow the neuroma to diminish. Other treatment options include medications, injections, wearing foot inserts and padding, and taping the ball of the foot. If these treatments fail, then a doctor may recommend surgery to remove the problematic nerve.
