A neuro ophthalmologist is a specialist doctor who deals with problems in vision of the eyes, which can be seen in the nervous system, including the brain, muscles controlling the movement of the eyes, and the optic nerve. A neuro ophthalmologist is highly qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by post-graduation in MD or MS. Then, they further specialize in a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology. The conditions that are treated by neuro ophthalmologists will be optic neuritis, papilledema, cranial nerve palsies, amblyopia, myasthenia gravis, visual field defects, visual disturbances, and migraines. The symptoms that need consultation with a neuro ophthalmologist can be double vision, sudden loss of vision, abnormal eye movements, headaches, visual field defects, unequal pupil size, visual hallucinations, drooping of eyelids, squint, inability to identify colors, vertigo, and dizziness.
